Ruis (eng: ‘noise’) is an installation by Giny Vos.
Twelve mupis (outdoor poster frames), six on each side of the road, have been transformed into a generative artwork displaying a modified version of Conway’s Game of Life. Each mupi is linked to every other with a radio link making it possible to have a set of patterns emerge out of the noise generated by the game of life routines.
Each mupi consists of 192 individual pixels. Every mupi runs autonomously listening to one “master”.
Simbits has written the firmware, graphics and communication routines driving each mupi.
